I really need to learn how to stop playing with my hair. And where the center of my camera’s field of vision is.

I couldn’t agree MORE! I eat a lot of fat everyday. Peanut Butter every single morning. Often multiple servings of cheese. I always leave the fat on my meats and eat them. I eat regular ice cream. I add olive oil to almost EVERYTHING. Fats keep me full, they keep my hair healthy, they keep my skin healthy.
So yeah, I eat a lot of fat. I know I’m not “in the community” of WLS patients, but I am in the community of losers who are doing it without cutting out the fat. :)
You’re definitely a part of MY community, WLS or not. Love reading your blog posts :)
I also don’t believe that potatos are evil by the way. Potatos cooked in a bunch of man made oils and covered in salt? Yes. But potatos cooked with olive oil? No. Potatos come from the earth…its what we DO to them that makes them so bad.
Oh yeah…another big “secret”. My family eats real butter. Never ever margarine. S will never have margarine served to her in this home.
Ok, one more…LOL…sorry, guess you touched on a sensitive topic for me. I actually may have to blog about this topic myself.
I think that the idea of the “pyramid” is completely wrong. I think there has got to be balance all the way around. Protein, fat, carbs (though carbs should come more heavily from NON PROCESSED foods like veggies, fruits, beans, etc).
Kelli, my dear, you’re awesome. Just in general, not only because you gave me a bit of positive reinforcement ;)
I don’t believe that potatoes are evil. But I try to keep ‘em down to a couple of times a week and always with protein and fat because I just seem to be really sensitive to carbohydrates in general. It’s been harder for me to cut back on my potato consumption than it has been to cut bread and pasta out entirely :)
Margarine is a subject for another day entirely. *shudder*
Thanks for having so much to say :)
I totally agree with you! Just wanted to tell you that :)
Oh….and I love your blog. I’m not a very good commenter but I wanted to let you know that I too feel that fat is not the enemy.
Thanks so much :)
:) I love when people get mad as hell and don’t take it anymore! Or the quote is something like that ;) I’m totally with you. Though, at the moment I’m having band angst. I’ve fallen into the easy, fast, filling….filled with carbs, and I feel like poo, without the H cuz there ain’t no honey. I’ve found that a lot of fats, specifically meat fat carries a lot of flavor which is filling for me. Do I eat the fat straight up? helllllO No. Cook with it? betcha. I can’t kick my carb addiction and that’s exactly what it is. After living on this pre-wls diet for the last week or so, I’ve gained, not so much in number as it is in jeans; starting to get that bloaty feeling. It’s no wonder why we’re in an obesity crisis, no one takes the time to do anything anymore, carbs are fast, easy and flavorful. The good stuff takes time. ::insert Hillary rant here:: :) MUAHHH!!

Waaaait. I thought blocks of lard were for snacking. You act like that’s weird or something.

I know, right? It took me three or four days to feel like the lack of sugar in my diet wasn’t going to kill me. I’m still fantasizing about donuts. But. I. Must. Resist.
Damn its good to hear from you! Don’t hold back BG! If you don’t speak up you won’t make the rest of us think.
I don’t avoid fat myself. My chosen fat is avocado….love that stuff. I like my lean meat but some nice marbling on a steak? HELL YEAH! I think I avoid carbs too much but I’m working on that.
You are looking fabulous! I love your video blog posts.
Thanks, you! I love avocado, too. I’ve started scrambling eggs in butter from pastured cows or (GASP) bacon grease. It’s amazing. And I honestly think that being really picky about the types of carbs we eat is the way to go, at least for me.
