Dear Everyone,
Sorry I’ve been absent. I got back from spending time in Las Vegas with my family last night and now I’m ready to become an honest-to-goodness blogger once again! I’m hoping work will be less chaotic so that I have more time to myself so that I can spend time contemplating and composing posts. Right now, I want to briefly tell you about my trip and how I did with my band.
First of all, I flew to Vegas rather than driving–my first flight since I was banded. I’d read that some people have problems with their bands tightening in flight, even to the point where they’re unable to drink water. I didn’t try to eat anything in flight and didn’t have any trouble drinking. The flight is only about an hour long; I don’t know if duration has an influence on the problems that others have experienced.
My mom is the only person in my family who knows that I had surgery. Naturally, I got stuck a lot, no matter how much I chewed. I think it was a sort of self-fulfilling prophesy: I was so fearful that someone would notice how much my eating habits had changed, I stressed so much that my band tightened.
Fortunately, it was only mentioned once and the subject was quickly dropped. Crisis averted? I guess.
Anyway, I’m back in Phoenix and wanted to do a quick update. I have a ton to write about this week, including telling you all about my visit to the doctor and a running store.
XOXO,
The Girl
P.S. We saw Terry Fator. I don’t watch much television and hadn’t heard of him. I was skeptical going in, but he was truly awesome. I’d go again in a heartbeat. Here’s a video of a bit of my favorite part (minus the blooper about halfway through):
I have no problems with flying and I’ve done around 6 long haul (+8hr) trips since getting my band. I also fly weekly for work with absolutely no problems!
I think that, like so many other things with the band, how we react to flights is a very individual thing. I’m glad to know that you do well with it!!
ahh you’re back ;) I didn’t even think about the flying thing I flew in July and didn’t even think about it – apparently I didn’t have an issue.
The family thing – I’d like to hear more about it? I have issues with it… and trying to get them to ‘drop it’
